Another experimental studio with Liyun & Nick. Love the both of them and really appreciate the time they have taken out for this shoot.
This was a much better session as compared to the previous one. I was fortunate to have Nicholas to help me with the lightings. The prior discussion on MSN with him on the kind of shots that I was looking for help to save some time during the session though we still took a while to figure the right position for the low key shot.
We corrected some mistakes from the previous session but still, made new mistakes. But generally speaking, we have got much better shots and keepers for this session. Less post processing was required as a result.

What was right with this shot? The white background was evenly lighted up as compared to the previous high key shot (in the previous studio session). I have decided to process this shot to give a 'dreamy' feel as really, the both of them seems to be in their own world during the shoot. Love their natural expression.
The challenge which we faced during the session was the strobe lighting up the backdrop. The strobe will be captured in the shot if we shoot at full body length. It didn't strike us that the solution was simple to draw the backdrop out longer and have the subject stand further away from the backdrop. That way, the subject will be able to conceal the strobe nicely.

And as you can see, all the high key shots are half body. Liyun and her cutesy expression. Reflects her cheery self so well.

Nick proposed to Liyun on August last year. So I thought why not a pose for that? :P
We were getting bored with the conventional high key and decided to experiment with something different. Nicholas suggested shifting the backdrop-strobe to one side and have it coming in directly on the subject. The end result ?

Not too bad I feel. I like the shadows because of the diagonal strobe at the back.
And then we switched to a low key setup.
It took us quite a while to settle for this setup. We were looking for something 'dark-arrogant-look-ambiance' kind of feel for the shot.

And we got it eventually. On top of that, we get to see a different look from Liyun. Was really please with the shots for the low key and surprised by Liyun's ability to pose for this shot.

Nick was equally up to the task! Their relationship is working well for the shot. Both are comfortable with each other and both loves being shot at.
Kudos to Liyun & Nick. Can't thank them enough for being willing models for me. Shooting them is of such pleasure.
There are plans for an outdoor session with the both of them again. So stay tune!
